Kalamazoo approves $40,000 loan to help Sarkozy Bakery
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – On Monday night the Kalamazoo City Commission approved a $40,000 loan to help a local bakery get back on its feet.
The money will help Sarkozy Bakery reopen after it was destroyed by a fire in February of 2012.
The business had been a staple of downtown Kalamazoo for the past 34 years.
Sarkozy Bakery’s owner hopes to reopen the popular bakery on East Michigan Avenue by the summer.
The move and the new equipment will cost around $600,000, money that is being raised one dollar at a time.
