Children approached by suspicious person

COLDWATER, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Police in Coldwater are warning of a suspicious situation that happened near an elementary school Thursday.

Officers say that two elementary students were walking to school Thursday when a person who was parked in a parking lot asked them if they wanted candy.

The children didn't respond and went to the school to report the incident.

Police say that they learned that a third child experienced a similar encounter the previous day while walking home from school.

Police describe the suspect as a white male who was young or of high school age with acne or a rough complexion. The vehicle was dark colored.

School officials are working with police to monitor school grounds and surrounding neighborhoods.
