Suspect crashes into cruisers in cocaine bust

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Police in Kalamazoo have made a cocaine bust.

It happened Wednesday in the 3000 block of S. Westnedge.

It started when officers with KVET tried to pull a car over because a wanted suspect was inside. The driver fled, backing up at a high rate of speed through a parking lot.

As the driver was fleeing he backed into an unmarked police cruiser that was pulling into the lot. He then rammed into the cruiser that was originally trying to pull him over.

Officers say that the suspect then gave up and was arrested. Officers say he had a large quantity of powder and crack cocaine on him, as well as a large sum of money.

Police say that the drugs have a street value of well over $6,000.

The 33-year-old Kalamazoo man who was arrested faces charges of fleeing and eluding, possession with intent to deliver and malicious destruction of property.
