Vandalized buses cancel school in Muskegon County

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Whitehall School district canceled classes on Thursday morning after discovering its fleet of school buses had been vandalized.

Superintendent Jerry McDowell tells Newschannel 3 the air had been let out of 95% of the buses front and rear tires.

Some had been so deflated the rubber separated from the rims.

All the damage can be repaired, but not in time to transport the 1,400 students who ride the bus.

The school has 15 buses but only runs 13 at any time.

Mr. McDowell says they are now reviewing surveillance video and working with local law enforcement to track down the suspects.

He says whoever is responsible will be held accountable.
