Legal definition of 'drunk' in Michigan could change in October

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Lawmakers will be taking another look at the blood-alcohol concentration law this week.

In September 2003, the legislature made .08 the blood-alcohol concentration that would meet the threshold for driving drunk in Michigan.

There was a sunset provision in the law, however, which would cause the law to expire in October of this year, reverting back to the original law of .10.

If it does, state officials told Newschannel 3 that Michigan could lose potentially up to $51 million in federal road funds.

We will follow the story and bring you the latest information as it becomes available.
