Ferris State student in critical condition after passing out in snowbank
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Ferris State University student found near death in a snowbank is from Grand Rapids, we learned Friday.
18-year-old Nicholas Suttles was discovered near campus in Big Rapids just before 8:00 a.m. Friday.
Investigators believe he'd been lying in the snow since 3:00 a.m.
They say Suttles left a party between 12:30 and 1:00 a.m., apparently drunk, and he may have stumbled into the snow bank and gotten stuck.
Police initially thought they were dealing with a crime, though.
"It was just suspicious finding somebody in the snow, he didn't have a jacket on, his clothes were wet," Det. Brian Miller with Big Rapids Public Safety explained.
Suttles was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids, where he's in critical condition.
