Former GRPS Superintendent suing district

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The former Superintendent of Grand Rapids Public Schools is suing the district, claiming it owes him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Dr. Bernard Taylor says the district has not paid him more than $330,000 as part of his severance agreement.

Taylor's complaint says the district is refusing to pay the money because of misconduct or mismanagement while he was still working in the district.

His attorney says the claims are false, exaggerated, and defamatory.

Grand Rapids School District leaders will not comment on the issue at this point.

Taylor is now the Superintendent for East Baton Rouge Parish School District in Louisiana.
