Police sources say boyfriend of the mother of children killed in fire arrested

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Newschannel 3 is learning new information concerning a fire that killed three young children in Kalamazoo.

Police sources tell Newschannel 3 that the boyfriend of the children’s mother was arrested the same day as the fire, on an unrelated charge.

Records show that 18-year-old Fred Glespie is currently booked in the Berrien County Jail. Newschannel 3 is being told that Michigan State Police arrested Glespie on a bench warrant out of Niles for driving on a suspended license.

Three-year-old twins Tevin and Teniya Williams and their little sister, one-year-old Tyonna Henderson, died in the fire on Monday at Interfaith Apartments. Police say the children were home alone.

Some family members have said the children’s mother, Jonetta Woods, had left the kids in the care of her boyfriend.

Police are investigating.
