Livingston takes the stand in murder trial

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Against the advice of his own attorney, Antonio Livingston took the witness stand in his murder trial.

He tried to convince the jury his co-defendant John Aguilar planned and carried out the murder of Robert Medema and that he was forced to go along.

Livingston testified on the night of the murder Aguilar told him they were only going to go to run errands and then instead they ended up at Medma's house on Oakland Drive.

And he said Aguilar brought some unusual items with him.

"He had a blue rug, duct tape, he had a finishing hammer," said Livingston.

He says Aguilar forced him to break into Medema's home through a window and then let him in the front door.  When Medema came home he says he saw Aguilar pull out a bat.

"You see Aguilar with the bat right, what do you see next?  He hits the older guy with the bat three times," said Livingston.

Livingston's testimony will continue Friday morning.  The case is expected to go to the jury sometime Friday.
