911 calls from Interfaith fire reveal variety of responses

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The 911 calls from the afternoon the fire broke out at the Interfaith Homes complex run about 8 minutes in length.

They range from those driving by, quite calm, to many in disbelief, just hoping and praying the Fire Department could arrive soon.

At first, it sounds as though dispatchers are having a hard time understanding the callers.

Of course, many were yelling, crying, and screaming into the phone. Given the events of that fateful day, one would be hard pressed to blame them.

Callers are heard repeating the same sentence: "There's kids inside."

Some on the scene couldn't get the words out to describe what they were seeing.
