Kalamazoo library branch closed after bed bugs found in books

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The Kalamazoo Public Library has closed its Washington Square Branch after bed bugs were found in some books that were returned.

A representative from the library says that the bugs were found in books that were returned to the branch’s drop box. The books were immediately quarantined and disposed of.

The library is bringing in bug sniffing dogs from Griffin Pest Control Tuesday to make sure that the building isn't infested.

Bed bugs continue to be a growing problem in West Michigan and the staff at the library checks books for the insects.

The branch will reopen after they get the all-clear.
