Decision delayed on Alamo Township noise ordinance

ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Township leaders in Alamo Township tabled a decision on a proposed noise ordinance Monday night and are now sending it back to the township planning commission for further consideration.

Hundreds of people turned out at Monday night's township board meeting, many of them speaking out against the proposal.

Many are concerned that the proposed ordinance would spell the end of the Kalamazoo Speedway because it currently exceeds the proposed noise limit.

Township leaders are now considering a temporary exemption for the Kalamazoo Speedway and the planning commission will discuss that with the race track's owner at a meeting on March 5th.

Newschannel 3 will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest information as it develops.
