Kalamazoo School Board to discuss I-Team investigation results

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The I-Team is following up on our investigation into school safety.

Thursday night, parents in the Kalamazoo Public School district plan to question Superintendent Michael Rice directly about what we uncovered.

Our I-Team found that KPS failed to report dozens of assaults and other police calls at the school to the state for several years.

Those reports are required by state law.

Police records show the lapse in reporting crime statistics began in 2007, the same year Rice took over the district as superintendent.

Dr. Rice has declined several requests for interviews.

We'll be at the school board meeting, which begins at 7:00 p.m., and we'll have a full report on Newschannel 3 Live at 11.
