Vicksburg man found not guilty in paper mill fire

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 21-year-old Vicksburg man has been found not guilty or arson in the fire at the old Vicksburg paper mill in August.

According to reports, at least seven people, ranging in age from 18 to 21 were hanging out drinking there when the fire broke out.

Police identified Kevin Chapman as their suspect, and he was arrested in late September in Humbolt County, California, and prosecutors began working on the extradition process to bring him back to Michigan.

Chapman was tried this week in Kalamazoo, and Wednesday, a jury cleared him of the charge against him.
