Paw Paw woman identified after alleged DUI crash

PAW PAW, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Paw Paw woman was charged with her second drunk driving offense, after police say she ran her car into a utility pole.

34-year-old Brandi Espinosa is charged with operating while intoxicated.

Deputies say she had a preliminary blood-alcohol level of .223 when she crashed her car in the 100 block of West Michigan Avenue at around 1:30 Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to a call that a driver hit a pole, and was attempting to leave the scene.

They say Espinosa and a passenger were standing outside the vehicle when they arrived.

Neither was injured in the crash.

Last month, Espinosa was sentenced to five days in jail for an animal cruelty charge.

Deputies say last fall she left dogs unattended, chained up outside a house, with little food and water.

The dogs have since been nursed back to health.
