Portion of baby formula plant shut down due to 'environmental' concern

ZEELAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Part of the plant that makes baby formula in Zeeland is shut down now, due to concerns about contamination.

Mead Johnson Nutrition Company makes Enfamil infant formula.

The company says it found "an environmental finding of concern in an isolated area of the plant."

Officials at the plant day they found the problem during normal plant monitoring.

They say they started normal procedures for this situation, which means they shut down the area for clean-up and more testing.

Mead Johnson says the majority of the plant is unaffected.
