House approves bill over drug tests for welfare recipients
LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan residents without a job could soon be putting their unemployment benefits at risk by doing illegal drugs.
Thursday the state House approved legislation that could disqualify people from receiving jobless benefits if they fail a drug test required by a prospective employer.
Employers would not be mandated to report when job applicants fail drug tests though.
The bill will now head to the Michigan Senate.
