M-DOT defends $1M expenditure for Amtrak wi-fi
LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Michigan Department of Transportation is defending its decision to spend $1 million to provide wi-fi service on Amtrak trains.
M-DOT says the money is coming out of the rail budget, so it would not have been able to spend the money on roads or bridges.
Also, M-DOT says it expects to recoup all that money and more next year due to increased ridership.
Amtrak is also paying for part of the project.
