Hearings set in shooting death of Mich. trooper
LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) - Key hearings have been scheduled for a couple accused of crimes related to the killing of a Michigan State Police trooper.
Mason County District Court Magistrate Patricia Baker says the preliminary examinations for Eric and Sarah Knysz (NIZE) have been set for Oct. 11. The hearings originally were planned for Wednesday.
Eric Knysz faces charges of homicide and other felonies. His wife is charged with helping him try to escape.
Trooper Paul Butterfield was shot in the head Sept. 9 during a traffic stop in Sherman Township, about 80 miles north of Grand Rapids.
Eric Knysz also faces weapons, theft and assault charges and Sarah Knysz a theft charge in Manistee County, where they were arrested.
The Associated Press left a message Wednesday for Eric Knysz's attorney David Glancy.
