Campaign looks to end love locks trend

PARIS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A campaign has been launched aimed at stopping people from attaching love locks to historic bridges in Paris.

An American and a French-American co-founded "No Love Locks."

They say the padlocks are endangering historic landmarks and have become a threat to safety.

Romantics put padlocks on bridges and toss the key into the river as a symbol of long-lasting love.

The group has created a petition that's collected more than 1,700 signatures.

The petition wants to remove the locks and to move them elsewhere.
