Judge rules mothers can keep fathers from birth room in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A New Jersey court decision makes it clear, it may take two to tango but not to give birth.

This week a judge in New Jersey ruled a woman giving birth can keep the expectant dad out of the delivery room if she wants to during labor.

According to the New Jersey Law Journal, the judge made the ruling in a case involving estranged, unmarried parents.

It's believed to the first of its kind decision.

The judge says a woman's right to privacy allows her to shut the father out.

An appeal is pending.
