Autopsy results coming for Phillip Hoffman

NEW YORK (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Autopsy results for Actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman could be released as early as Tuesday.

The Oscar winner was found dead in his New York City apartment Sunday with a needle in his arm.

Officials say packets of heroin were found near the 46-year-old's body. Police suspect he died of an overdose.

We now know there were as many as 70-bags of heroin in the apartment.

Investigators are wondering if Hoffman's death could be linked to a potent blend of heroin and synthetic morphine which is linked to several other deaths in the northeast.
