Senate votes to move bipartisan farm bill forward

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - In Washington, D.C., the Senate overwhelmingly voted to move the bipartisan farm bill forward.

The bill is expected to save up to $23 billion over ten years.

It trims about 1 percent from the food stamp program, and also eliminates direct payments to farmers.

A final vote to pass the bill will be held Tuesday.
