Flights grounded as storm hits east coast

MARYLAND (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thousands of flights are grounded right now and cancellations will continue to pile up as the east coast deals with a major winter storm Thursday morning.

"Everybody should be anticipating a 24 hour snow and ice event," said Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley.

Some of the country's busiest airports are right in this storm's path.

Raleigh, North Carolina may be the hardest hit spot.
