Janet Yellen succeeds Bernanke at Fed

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Janet Yellen has become the first woman to lead the Federal Reserve in its 100-year history.

Yellen was sworn in early Monday, succeeding Ben Bernanke.

She took the oath in a short ceremony in the Fed's board room.

The 67-year-old was nominated by President Barack Obama back in October.

Her four-year term as chairman will end on February 3rd of 2018.
