Suspect in Chinese Consulate fire charged

SAN FRANCISCO (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man accused of lighting a fire at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco tells FBI agents he was hearing voices in Chinese just before the attack.

39-year-old Yan Feng from Daly City, just south of San Francisco, surrendered Friday.

According to the consulate, surveillance video showed someone pouring two buckets of gasoline on the consulate's front door last Wednesday before setting the door on fire.

Monday Feng was charged in a federal court.

The attack has led to pleas from the Chinese government to the U.S. for more security.
