Missing man found in Washington after picture runs in USA Today

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A missing man in Greece, N.Y. was found alive in Washington, D.C. thanks to a photo printed on the USA Today newspaper's front page.

20-year-old Nick Simmons was featured above a story about the homeless struggling to stay warm in the nation's capital.

Nick's family had reported him missing on New Year's Day, but just four days later, a family member saw the article and recognized him.

After contacting police in D.C. to confirm it was really their missing relative, the family had him taken to a hospital for observation.

Nick's father drove to D.C. to reunite with his son.

It's still unknown at this time why Nick left and how he ended up in Washington.
