Pentagon offers help in keeping Sochi games safe

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Pentagon is offering to help Russia keep the Winter Olympics safe.

U.S. military officials say they will share intelligence and equipment with Russian troops to help spot roadside bombs.

Islamic militants from northern Russia have threatened to strike Sochi during the games, which start February 7.

Russian forces have been on a manhunt for terror suspects since a suicide bomber attacked a train station with a direct route to Sochi last month.

Experts are expecting as many as 60,000 security guards and troops to be in the city during the games.
