WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Drought in California

CALIFORNIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There are extreme weather conditions from coast to coast. The east is dealing with the polar vortex and the west coast dealing with more drought.

In the Sierra-Nevada Mountains they are dealing with especially low snow pack.

The area has only a fifth of the snow it normally does this time of year.

The California Conference of Catholic Bishops is calling on people of all faiths to join in prayers for rain.

The governor is moving closer to proclaiming an official drought for the third straight year.

A drought declaration would likely make it easier to transfer more water from northern to southern California.
