Parliament in Sydney under lockdown

SYDNEY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The New South Wales State Parliament in Sydney went into lock-down Friday after a man parked his car outside, threatening to blow it up.

Police tried to negotiate with him for two-hours before firing tear gas shells, smashing in his window and dragged him out.

During the struggle the man tried to light up flammable liquid in the car.

Shortly after the man was dragged out, witnesses heard three small explosions, believed to possible be stun grenades.

The man was finally arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric assessment.

No one was injured.
