US offers support to Russia after bombings

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The United States is offering more support to Russia as it prepares to host the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

Two suicide bombings killed dozens of people in Volgograd about 400 miles from the Olympics site.

The attacks are believed to be the work of Islamic militants from Chechnya.

Russia has spent an estimated $51-billion on security for the games.

The United States is expected to share with Russia information it might collect about possible threats.
