President signs executive order to help states respond to disasters
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The President has signed an executive order to make it easier for states and local governments to respond to weather-related disasters.
The executive order comes just over a year after superstorm Sandy devastated the east coast.
It establishes a task force of state and local officials to advise the federal government how to respond to severe storms, wildfires, and droughts.
The task force will make recommendations on how roads, bridges, and flood control systems can better survive symptoms of climate change, like rising sea leavels and warming temperatures.
