Morsi trial resumes in Jan
CAIRO (AP) - For the first time since he was ousted in a coup in July, deposed Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has been seen in public -- at a court hearing on charges stemming from the deaths of protesters who gathered outside the presidential palace in December.
Morsi defiantly rejected the court's authority to put him on trial, saying he's still the president and that he was in court by force, and against his will. He described the coup as "a crime and treason."
The trial was adjourned until January.
Since his ouster, Morsi has been held at a secret military location. He was flown by helicopter to the trial venue - a police academy in an eastern Cairo district.
