BART strike ends
CALIFORNIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The BART strike in northern California is over.
Just after midnight the San Francisco Bay Area's main commuter train system and its unions announced they have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
That brings an end to a crippling four-day strike.
A BART spokeswoman says limited service will begin Tuesday morning with trains running at full strength in time for the Tuesday afternoon commute.
BART is the nation's fifth-largest rail system, with an average weekday ridership of 400,000.
The deal still needs approval from union members.
