Golf course under fire over 9/11 discount
WISCONSIN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Wisconsin golf course is under fire for a newspaper ad offering a discount to mark the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The promotion offers nine holes of golf for nine dollars and eleven cents, only on September 11th.
The golf course's Facebook page has been flooded with angry responses to the ad. One of the posts accuses the golf course of trying to make an opportunity out of a national tragedy.
But the owner of the golf course says the idea was in remembrance.
"It's a way to honor and commemorate the people that have died and the first responders that sacrificed their life," said Marc Watts, owner of Tumbledown Trails.
Tuesday the golf course was reporting death threats.
The management of the course has since posted an apology on Facebook and on a recorded message on the course's main phone line.
