Breast cancer drug may get fast approval from FDA
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The FDA is considering fast approval for a drug that treats breast cancer in the early stages.
The drug called Perjeta is already used to fight breast cancer after it's spread to other parts of the body.
But a new study shows it can also be used soon after diagnosis and is effective at shrinking tumors, making it easier to remove them during surgery.
On Thursday a panel of experts will review the evidence and advise the FDA.
