Medical leaders meet in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Leaders in the medical field and beyond met in Kalamazoo Tuesday to talk about the future of the city.

The women's group Inform held the meeting, which brought together the leaders of Bronson and Borgess Medical Centers as well as the new dean of the WMU Medical School.

The goal of the forum was to talk about things that are pushing Kalamazoo into the future and ways to improve the city even more.

Panelists also spoke about what makes Kalamazoo so unique and how it makes the city a competitive place for those in the health care and beyond.

"That's something that special about the Kalamazoo community is this collaboration that's happening. So you have these fierce competitors with anyone looking at it saying Bronson and Borgess, but they've come together with Western Michigan University and have really out a stake in the ground, said Jacqueline Wiggins of Inform.

The new WMU Medical School was the topic of a lot of the conversation. Panelists say it will help the city grow even more.
