Otsego police officer resigns after misconduct investigation
OTSEGO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An Otsego police officer has resigned following an internal investigation into misconduct.
Jon Campbell had been an officer with Otsego Police since 1986, he’s also been an Allegan County Commissioner since 1991.
But just this week the city says Campbell resigned from the police department.
That comes after the city confirmed last month there was an internal investigation underway by the police chief into possible misconduct by Campbell.
The city told us it was not illegal but will not say what Campbell was accused of doing. And now that he resigned it doesn't plan to release the findings of the investigation.
The I-Team has learned that although the Otsego city manager's office tells us nothing illegal happened, the Otsego police chief has asked the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office to look over the investigation and make sure there was no illegal activity.
