KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The news became official late Thursday night, that WMU basketball star David Brown has been granted a long-awaited 6th year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Brown, who suffered various knee and ankle injuries early in his career, played in just 19 total games from 2010 to 2012.

Western petitioned the NCAA for a 6th year of eligibility for Brown, and the request was finally granted after weeks of waiting.

Brown averaged just over 19 points per game, and was the MAC's second-leading scorer last season, and was honored as the MAC Tournament MVP.

The Broncos return 4 of 5 starters from last year's championship squad, with the lone exception being stud center Shayne Whittington.
