WMU Football Left Out of Bowl Game; Michigan, MSU Learn Fates
KALAMAZOO, Mich (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Western Michigan football will not play in a bowl game this season, the program confirmed to Newschannel 3 on Sunday.
The Broncos will finish Tim Lester's first season at 6-6 overall. Western had become bowl eligible for the fourth straight season, a new program record.
Many predictions had the Broncos heading to Detroit to play in the Quick Lane Bowl. That bid, instead, went to Northern Illinois, who will face Duke on December 26th.
WMU lost its first two games of the season (to USC and Michigan State), before ripping off four straight victories, capped by a seven-overtime win vs. Buffalo. The Broncos then traded losses and wins before dropping their final two games of the season.
