Mixed emotions for basketball fans in Michigan after tumultuous weekend


(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - After some major weekend upsets, many brackets are toast this morning, while others are celebrating some impressive predictions.

As for fans in the mitten, it was a mixed bag of emotion Sunday, as U-of-M advanced to the next round, while Spartans fans are left behind.

The Wolverines are heading to the sweet 16, after taking down second seed Louisville on Sunday afternoon.

Between the Big 10 tournament, and NCAA tournament, the Wolverines have made it 6 straight wins since that frightening plane crash experience.

They will now face third seeded Oregon on Thursday night in Kansas City.

After a win over Miami, ninth seeded Michigan State fell to top seeded Kansas over the weekend.

The Jayhawks pulled away late and took down the Spartans 90 to 70 on Sunday.

Kansas now moves on to the sweet 16, taking on Purdue Thursday night.

The Kansas/Purdue winner will take on the Michigan/Oregon winner for a trip to the Final Four.
