Tigers on the brink of elimination after game 5 loss

DETROIT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Tigers are on the brink of elimination after dropping a 4-3 game Thursday night in Detroit to the Boston Red Sox.
People are talking about two key plays that likely played a pivotal role.
In the first inning, third base coach Tom Brookens waved around Miguel Cabrera on a single to left--not a great move, even if Cabrera was healthy.
Brookens tried to stop him, but it was far too late, and the play at the plate wasn't even close.
Alex Avila also left the game shortly after getting bowled over by Red Sox catcher David Ross.
The Tigers are staggered, but certainly not on the canvas yet.
With Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander scheduled for games 6 and 7, the team says let's wait and see.
