KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - On Thursday, World War II veteran Bob Davidson joined with other veterans at the Recovery Institute in Kalamazoo to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Davidson was born and raised in Kalamazoo, and he joined the army during World War II because the military would then pay his college tuition.
Thursday, he shared his stories of growing up and his service during the war.
Folks at the institute say Bob is like living history, and it was an honor to celebrate the special day with him.
"They went up against the greatest war machine the world had ever seen and they defeated him within four years," said Christopher Thomas, a peer support specialist. "Just the knowledge and experience that he can share with us is priceless."
The Recovery Institute is a peer-to-peer veterans support group in Kalamazoo, helping veterans connect with the social and medical support services they need.
