BELDING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Fire officials in Belding say a woman has died after a house fire in Belding Sunday morning.
Fire officials say they responded to a fire in the 1000 block of Masonic Avenue around 10:00 am Sunday morning.
When they arrived they found the first floor of the home in flames. Fire crews had been told that a disabled woman in her 70s was still in the residence, so they made immediate entry into the home and were able to pull the woman out.
Belding Fire Chief Gregg Moore said the woman died about 3 hours later at Spectrum-Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids.
Her son was also treated at the hospital for burns to his arms and hands after he tried to get back into the burning home to save his mother.
The woman's name has not been released.
