KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - They've been cooperating for years, but now, leaders of Western Michigan University and Cooley Law School are thinking about forming a stronger alliance.
The boards of both schools agreed to explore the possibility of a formal affiliation, making Cooley's Juris Doctor and Masters of Law degrees available through Western Michigan University.
Once they complete the exploratory process, the proposal will go to the boards for approval.
That could happen sometime this summer.
If it all goes through, Western would be one of fewer than 90 universities in the nation to have both a law school and a school of medicine.
