MARSHALL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Calhoun County deputies have identified the man who burned to death after he crashed his car near Marshall.
The Undersheriff told Newschannel 3 that 32-year-old Michael Delaney of Mattawan was killed at about 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
He was heading east on East Michigan Avenue when his truck veered off the road, smashed into a tree, and burst into flames.
Sheriff's deputies worked to put out the flames, but the fire re-ignited several times.
Investigators believe Delaney died from the fire.
The preliminary investigation shows that alcohol and speed appear to have been factors in the crash.
