GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Dozens of UAW and non-union workers rallied outside a Flex-N-Gate Corporation plant in Grand Rapids on Wednesday afternoon.

The protest was one of seven today, calling on the auto supplier to meet workers who wish to form a union halfway.

The UAW says the company needs to improve safety conditions and pay better wages.

One member we talked with said being in a union and having a contract gives her and her co-workers a voice, as well as job security.

She wants to see the same for all Flex-N-Gate workers.

"It was very heartwrenching; I did see a lady that worked here for 26 years get fired for no reason," said Kathy Morgan, Bargaining Chair for the UAW 1D. "Things that would never happen in our shop happen here every day."

Rallies were held Wednesday across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Texas.
