KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – On Friday people gathered in Kalamazoo to stand up for the safety of children.
Kalamazoo County’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council dedicated a tree to innocent young victims.
The tree was wrapped in blue ribbons, one for each child abuse or neglect case in Kalamazoo County.
“Our effort here is to remind all of us with a very striking display, the importance of looking out for children and doing prevention work,” said Angela Moe of the Child Abuse and Neglect Council, “not relying on intervention and all doing our part.”
The number of reported child abuse cases is up 26 percent in Kalamazoo County.
The tree is located on the Kalamazoo mall near the Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites.
