THREE RIVERS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Three men lead police on a chase through Three Rivers, the whole time carrying a baby with them.
When the chase reached Al Stewarts neigborhood it came to a loud and sudden end right in front of his house.
A car had crashed into a utility pole and three men ran out, one of them holding a baby.
"I thought maybe they kidnapped it, but it wasn't ten minutes later the mother and one of her friends come running saying my baby, that's my cousins car, where's my baby. I said they went running that way with it," says Stewart.
Police had tried to stop the car outside of the Three Rivers Wal-Mart Monday night..
Police say the men inside the car Antonio and Charles Hearn and William Powell are suspected in several thefts from businesses in town.
But the car took off, witnesses say at times going 70 miles an hour on residential streets, then crashing at Constantine and Hill streets.
It was there that Al Stewart and other neighbors helped direct police to which way the men ran.
And the whole time they ran they were passing a six-month-old back and forth between them. One neighbor even found the child's shoe.
All three were finally arrested...somehow through a crash and chase, the baby was not injured.
Antonio and Charles Hearn and William Powell were arraigned Tuesday and face a number of charges including driving under the influence, theft, fleeing and eluding and child abuse.
