State Police investigate fatal crash in Berrien Co.

ST. JOSEPH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Berrien County which claimed the life of a 77-year-old St. Joseph woman.
It happened at around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
State Police say that a dump truck from the City of St. Joseph Department of Public Works was driving northbound on Lakeshore Drive, but as it approached the intersection of Shoreham Drive, a 2009 Mercury Sable, driven by 77-year-old Janet Unruh reportedly pulled in its path.
The driver of the truck was unable to avoid the Sable as it entered the roadway, and the impact sent Unruh's vehicle off the road.
Unruh was transported to a hospital in St. Joseph where she succumbed to her injuries.
A passenger in Unruh's vehicle, 88-year-old Dixie Kreiger, was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
There is no report on the condition of the driver of the truck.
The incident remains under investigation.
